The University of Vermont Health Network has now successfully restored access to the Epic electronic medical record system at all inpatient and ambulatory sites that currently use the system. This includes inpatient and ambulatory sites at UVM Medical Center and ambulatory clinics at Central Vermont Medical Center, Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital, and Porter Medical Center.

The University of Vermont Health Network was able to successfully restore access to the electronic medical record system at inpatient and ambulatory sites at UVM Medical Center over the weekend – an important milestone that will improve the efficiency of the care we provide and the experience of our patients.

We were also able to restore the system to ambulatory sites at Central Vermont Medical Center this morning and we expect to bring Epic back online to ambulatory sites at Porter Medical Center tomorrow and at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital as quickly as possible this week

The University of Vermont Health Network plans to begin restoring access this weekend to the Epic electronic health records system beyond the current “read only” status to all inpatient and ambulatory sites at UVM Medical Center. We are also working to restore Epic access to ambulatory sites at Central Vermont Medical Center, Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital, and Porter Medical Center as quickly as possible.

The process is likely to take several days. We will only be moving forward as long as each step is achieved successfully, and patient safety and quality can be assured.
